Everyone knows by now there is a massive widespread broadband internet outage and the primary carrier affected is Windstream. Windstream does have a failover system in place for these types of outages however that was compromised last week when storms and tornadoes went north thru Griffin Ga. At that point their network became dependent on the failover system where the internet was rerouted due to the storms. So this morning it seems that fiber route from Atlanta to Charlotte was possibly damaged by a underground construction crew. This has affected AT&T and Verizon networks as well as many other carriers and near-by states.
With that being said Windstream Network Techs and Engineers are working in an aggressive manner to reroute all Internet traffic thru other areas of the state in order to restore every customer possible as soon as possible.
